WHO THE HELL ARE DITCH THE DEMON? Gothic prog-rock misfits to banish your devilish woes, troubadours of bombastic rock 'n' roll theatre and so much more.
Formed early 2019 from the beer-soaked music scene of Hastings (UK), Ditch the Demon have reclaimed the 1970s heavy-rock sound, assimilating art rock, power metal and prog under a dark yet uplifting aura. The band’s music is characterised by the epic haunting vocals of Amanda Brooks-Byron, driven by seasoned musicianship and exceptional, original songwriting.
"...East Sussex's answer to Blood Ceremony, and full-length debut 'Ain't Dead Yet' is a hugely enjoyable mix of psych, prog and garage goth. Brooks-Byron surely spent her teenage nights before a mirror miming to Kate Bush, Siouxsie Sioux and Coven's Jinx Dawson..."
(Grant Moon, Prog Magazine, issue 150)
AIN'T DEAD YET, Ditch the Demon's debut album, is available on CD from Ditch the Demon's page on BandCamp and Tough Love St Leonards, price £12 (P&P payable at BandCamp). CDs are also on sale at gigs, of course! Digital downloads are available from BandCamp and online music services. Twelve tracks of goth/prog light 'n' shade... wanna know more? Label Prozakville Records has more.
LIVE IN THE BIG BAD CITY, a download-only BandCamp exclusive, offers a raw taste of live shows, price £5. A limited number of DIY CD copies of this album are available at gigs.
SANTA'S COMING (KRAMPUS IS GONNA GET ME), Ditch the Demon's satirical Christmas single, is out now on BandCamp and music streaming services.
Influences driving the band's music are diverse. The spiritual roots of Ditch the Demon can be traced to seminal band Coven, whose 1974 album “Blood on the Snow” inspired the band to forge their own contemporary goth/prog twist on 1970s rock. (Listen to Ditch the Demon's Spotify Playlist!)
